Drop In The Ocean arrives one track at a time. A new drop every second Friday, each one deeper than the last, until the full EP lands on 18 September.
Released on Shine, part of KPM. Licence this music
obylx began in late 2017 as a deliberate fresh start. A new name, a different sound, and one rule: release something every month. That discipline held for three years and left a catalogue of ninety-eight tracks.
Within the first year came a three month commission for Apple, written for the iPhone X, XS Max and XR launch. Since then the music has been played on BBC Radio 1 and 6 Music, placed on Apple editorial playlists, and licensed to O2, Johnnie Walker, Adidas and David Ayer's film The Tax Collector.
Drop In The Ocean is the first new obylx material in some time. Four tracks written, performed, mixed and produced alone in a studio in the Somerset countryside, moving between the dancefloor and the quiet moment after it.
A classy mix of strings, piano, woozy vocals and stately beats.
